Date: April 5, 2010
Location: Ragged Island & Lake Maury
Bird Species: Red-winged Blackbird, Osprey, House Sparrow, Northern Shoveler, Great Black-backed Gull, Double-crested Cormorant, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, and European Starling. I also saw a Hairy Woodpecker, but it was too far away to document.
Natural History Observations: I was able to see Osprey hovering over the James River along the shore next to Lion's Bridge. Several of them successfully caught a few fish so I got to see them position the fish with their talons so that they were more aerodynamic.
